--------------------------------------------------------------------
- Hardware and software requirements -
IBM or compatible PC with 256K RAM.
Charging can be run from a hard or a floppy disk.
(For instructions see below.)
DOS version 3.3 or later.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
- Hard Disk Installation -
In the following examples, the directory name MYREALM is used and
the distribution disk is assumed to be in the A: drive. (If you are
creating a new directory, you may name it anything you wish, but the
name's length must not exceed eight characters.)
Note: This program is installable from your A: or B: floppy disk
drives, and it can be installed either to your hard disk or to
another floppy disk.
Option 1 - If you need to create a new directory.
If you have no other My Little Realm programs, you must first create
a new directory for Charging. If you already have one or more MLR
products on your hard disk, even if they are just evaluation
versions, put Charging in the same directory using the instructions
in Option 2.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Step | English directions | DOS commands
---------------------------------------------------------------
1 | go to root directory | CD\ <enter>
2 | make a new directory | MD MYREALM <enter>
3 | change to new directory | CD\MYREALM <enter>
4 | run installation program | A:INSTALL <enter>
---------------------------------------------------------------
Option 2 - Using an existing directory.
If you already have an MLR program on your hard disk, registered or
evaluation version, all you need to do is make your existing MLR
directory (called MYREALM, as an example) the currect directory and
run the installation program.
[Note: If you are already using My Little Realm's Checking program,
please read the Notice at the end of this document.]
---------------------------------------------------------------
Step | English directions | DOS commands
---------------------------------------------------------------
1 | change to existing directory | CD\MYREALM <enter>
2 | run installation program | A:INSTALL <enter>
---------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------
- Floppy Drive Installation -
You can install your evaluation program to a floppy drive, as long
as it isn't the same drive that contains the distribution disk.
Assuming the distribution disk is in the A: drive, make the B:
drive your current drive and execute the install program like so:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Step | English directions | DOS commands
---------------------------------------------------------------
1 | make floppy drive current drive | B: <enter>
2 | run installation program | A:INSTALL <enter>
---------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------
- Running From A Floppy -
You can run Charging from a floppy disk by making its disk drive
(assume it's in the A: drive for this example) the current drive
and typing CHARGING at the DOS prompt, as shown here.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Step | English directions | DOS commands
---------------------------------------------------------------
1 | make floppy drive current drive | A: <enter>
2 | start Charging | CHARGING <enter>
---------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Printing your documentation.

and enter the following commands at the DOS prompt. Be sure your
printer is on.
---------------------------------------------------------------

1 | go to MYREALM directory | CD\MYREALM <enter>
2 | print documentation | TYPE CHARGING.TXT > PRN <enter>
---------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------

collections of books, tapes, cd's, etc.), Public Library (to help
you keep track of the works you borrow from your public libraries),
Read More (a program designed to encourage young readers), and

important documents in your life). Read DESCRIBE.TXT on your

Notice.
The Charging program of My Little Realm makes use of the same file
called TAXCODES.QKY that MLR's Checking uses. They have been set up
this way intentionally so you would not have to duplicate your
efforts creating the same Tax codes for both routines. (If you are
planning to purchase the entire system, as a matter of fact, you
will find that these two programs automatically share this file.)
If, however, you want to utilize a different set of Tax codes for
each, put the Charging/sa and Checking/sa programs in separate
directories.
